If you have aches and pains that you think will be helped by an infrared sauna or you just love relaxing in a sauna but you don’t have any saunas local to you or you can’t afford to go to a spa. Whatever the reason for your interest you might be interested in a portable indoor Far Infrared Sauna. The Radiant Saunas BSA6310 Rejuvenator Portable Sauna is a typical choice for you to try and is a best seller on Amazon.com.
So what benefits are there in a portable FIR (Far-infrared) Sauna?
First of all it is portable. If like me you live in an area where there are no options to go to a place that has an infrared sauna to use then a home option is the only chance that I can have the benefits. When you’re talking about a home sauna then you have the choice of buying a wooden stand alone sauna that you put together at home that can be taken apart if you move house is meant to be left built up ready for when you want to use it. These are great if you have some unused space that you can put a sauna. If you live in a place that has limited space then you have to think of something else and that is where a foldable sauna can come in.
If folds flat (not as flat as a pancake) but flat enough that you can store it in a cupboard of just up against a wall when not in use. Don’t worry it’s quick enough to erect when you want to have your infrared sauna session. The other good thing about these foldable saunas is the fact that you can set them up anywhere that you have access to an electrical outlet to power it up, so if you want to set it up for half an hour in front of the tv in your living room it’s easy to do.

At only 28×33.5×38.1 inches it really doesn’t have a large footprint when it’s not a permanent structure and if you prefer to set it up in your bedroom for a bit of relaxation out of the way it is light enough to be able to carry it there.
The sauna is heated by 3 ETL approved energy-efficient low EMF carbon fiber heating panels which are attached to the back and sides of the structure. Carbon fiber heating panels are the most effficient infrared heaters. Infrared doesn’t heat up the air inside of the unit but heats up your body directly because you absorb the heat from the infrared the same as if you were sitting out in the sun.
The heating panels are cocooned inside a padded tent like exterior that is like a pod. This is made of a moisture-resistant, satin polyester exterior which is lock-stitched to the triple-layer cotton insulation giving a quilted look. You sit inside this pod on a foldable seat and you zip it up around you so that you head is sticking out of the top of it. The zip can be opened from the outside and the inside and there is zippered hand holes so that you can easily get to the controls to adjust the settings and the timer. This is held in a pocket that is next to the hand hole where you can also put your phone or a book if you want to have other entertainment.
You have 5 levels of pre-set temperatures to choose from so you can find the most comfortable for you. You don’t have to have it on the hottest setting to get benefits from infrared. It does go to a maximum of 150F.
You also have the option of 6 automatic timer options so you can start off slow and work up to longer if you need to.
To set your choices you use the remote controlled handset, once your settled inside the sauna power on the unit and set the controls which is done by pressing the +/- buttons till you reach to setting you desire then press start.
It does suggest a weight limit of 180lbs which I believe is for the chair that it included but that isn’t to say that you can’t replace it with a different chair or stool. Some people have purchased a bath stool or sauna stool as the chair can feel uncomfortable for some.
Sitting in the warmth of the infrared sauna you will appreciate the way you will relax and unwind. The infrared waves can penetrate into the body heating from within which provides soothing relief from aches and pains. After you have sat in the sauna for a while you will begin to sweat and that is the body’s normal way or getting rid of toxins from deep inside the cells and the increased circulation you get from the heat can burn calories even though you’re only sitting there. You can burn up to 600 calories in 30 minutes in an infrared sauna, another added benefit.
If you’re worried about EMF(electro magnetic frequency) they state that it produces less than your cell phone.
When using an infrared sauna you can become dehydrated from the sweating you’ll do so make sure you have a drink of water before you start and you can always put a drink of water near you while you are using the sauna so that you can drink through the process.
You will find that you might need to have a towel on the floor of the sauna to deal with dripping sweat and you might want to sit on one too. To clean the inside of the sauna after you have finish you just need to wipe down with a towel and you can wipe around with an anti bacterial wipe to keep it fresh. Let it dry out before you fold away.
People who are spending money to use infrared saunas at a spa are loving the savings that they are making when using this sauna at home and you can choose when, where and how long the sessions you want to do. It’s been suggested to purchase a stool so that you get the best heat absorption from the back panel. Many people buy this because they have muscle pain and they want the relaxing heat benefits of a home sauna. One of the tips that people have been suggesting is to heat up the sauna for 10 minutes before you get in it.
There have been some bad reviews as there always is with any product. One customer felt that she didn’t get a good heat coverage from the panels included as there isn’t any panels on the front. Another customer found that if she stood the reflective panel that is for the base against the front panel she got heat reflected back giving a warmer feel to the front of her body. Some of the customers felt it didn’t get to the heat it was supposed to and returned it and some people were just worried about the amount of EMF that it can produce.
The reasons why people want to buy a portable infrared sauna can be different, there is a lot of hype about it’s weight loss effects and I for one would be happy to try it just for that especially as some people are seeing results in that area, but as I suffer from back pain that would be my main reason for trying it. People are getting relief from muscle pains making it a worthwhile investment.
