You may not realise how many products actually use infrared technology to make them work better for you. We thought we would give you some insight into some infrared products that you might already be using but if you’re not you may want to buy when you’ve read about them.

#1. Hairdryer with Infrared Technology

Are you surprised to find that there are hairdryers with infrared capability available today. When you go to a salon and get your hair done and it looks great after it is dried that is due to the infrared heat drying your hair quickly and gently. The infrared is generated by ceramic coated elements in the hairdryer, it penetrates the hair shaft to dry it while keeping the moisture in.

The benefit of infrared is that it doesn’t require high heat to dry your hair, it dries from the inside out and seals the cuticles giving a soft shiny finish quicker than a standard hair dryer. It eliminates any hot spots or any chance of burning or heat damaging your hair because the heat distribution is more even. The drying time can usually be improved up to 50% with infrared.

You can get professional type hair dryers that are used in salons like the Elchim Classic 2001 Dryer and although it is higher in price it’s an investment in your hair. If you prefer to pay less then check out the Remington D3190A Damage Control Ceramic Hair Dryer which is a best seller on Amazon.com

#2. Infrared hair straighteners

If you don’t want to spend extra money on a hair dryer but don’t mind spending a little on hair straighteners then you can’t help your hair more than if you buy straighteners which include infrared technology. Most people know that continued use of straighteners can cause heat damage to your hair making it dry and brittle which can break easily.

Although hair dryers don’t actually touch your hair a straightener does so you want as much protection as possible to keep your hear looking and feeling healthy. Infrared straighteners can lock in your hair’s natural moisture so you don’t suffer from over drying of the hair and it keeps it looking shiny.

There are a lot of hair straighteners that already use infrared like the CHI Original 1″ Flat Hair Straightening Ceramic Hairstyling Iron 1 Inch Plates which has a lot of reviews or if that is too expensive for you check out the lower cost XARA Professional 2” infrared ceramic FLAT IRON Hair Straightener with wider plates. When you add infrared to your hair care your hair will thank you.

#3. Infrared light therapy

Near infrared light therapy is often used for treatments on the skin. Near infrared light penetrates the skin like far-infrared light except that it doesn’t penetrate as far.

What does infrared light do for your skin? It increases the circulation and stimulates healing and collagen production. It can help to improve the appearance of wrinkles and acne scars, help with rosacea age spots and blemishes.

These type of treatments are usually offered in spa’s but with the help of some products online you can now do these treatments at home and save money on expensive spa visits. It doesn’t really matter what age you are because at certain times in your life you suffer from different problems with your skin which infrared light seems to help with.

You can buy an infrared light device called the iderma Youth Restoring Face Masque which uses a mixture of visible red light and invisible infrared light and you can have a full treatment on your face in 10 minutes using the light mask included.

#4. Infrared Sauna

Using a home infrared sauna has a lot of benefits as the infrared rays have a chance to penetrate your whole body. Infrared saunas tend to be far-infrared which gives a deep heat within the body. It improves circulation and the heat can get deep into the cells releasing toxins and improving oxygenation.

The heating of the body increases the heart rate and that helps your body to burn energy even while you’re just sitting. You can burn anywhere from 200-600 calories in a 30 minute session. The infrared heat can ease muscle pain and detoxify the body. This type of heat makes you sweat and that is the body’s way of removing toxins.

There is also a benefit when the body is heated to help get rid of colds because the heat kills viruses. So it not only can it be good to get rid of a cold but regular use helps prevent virus infections too. After a hard day at work you can’t relax in a quicker or more effective way than sitting in an infrared sauna and you will feel invigorated when you get out. You have to keep hydrated before and after a sauna as you will sweat buckets.

There are 2 types of sauna for use at home, a static type like the JNH Lifestyles 2 Person Far Infrared Sauna which you assemble at home and comes in different sizes from a 1person to a larger 4-5 person depending on the space you have available. #5. Infrared soap dispenser

Wouldn’t it be great to have a soap dispenser that you can put your hands underneath and it squirts that soap straight on there. Well you can have such a gadget in your own home. This is one way in which a heat sensor can drive an action on a product. The sensor detects the motion so you can have soap in an instant and you can set the amount of soap dispensed too.

Do you want your kids to wash their hands after going to the toilet? Make it fun and they’re more likely to do it all on their own without having to be reminded. The GLAMFIELDS Touchless Stainless Steel Automatic Soap Dispenser can be used in the kitchen or the bathroom and it holds just over 9 oz of soap which can last quite a long time before re-filling and it doesn’t drip soap all over the place making more work either.

#6. Infrared mats

Heating mats come in various sizes and shapes giving far-infrared pain relief where you need it on your body. You can get infrared mats that are full length like a yoga mat that you can lie on and you will get the benefit of the infrared heat the whole length of your body.

Most of these mats create the infrared rays from the use of infrared crystals like amethyst and jade which release infrared when they are heated up. Some mats are of a standard that you can use them in your bed to sleep on. They usually have different heat settings available which you can select for your own comfort although if you sleep on one it usually has to be on the low setting for the length of time that you will be sleeping. It’s very helpful if you have pain which affects your sleep as it can help relieve it.

You can get smaller infrared mats that you can place over specific areas that cause you pain, like your lower back or your feet or upper back and shoulders or just place on a seat so you can get some relief when you are sitting.

#7. Infrared Camera

If you think of infrared cameras as something the police might use to track criminals you might not think that you would be able to have any use for an infrared camera at home unless for security inside or outside your house.

That is definitely an option in your home but there are other uses for infrared cameras. You can use an infrared camera to check for heat loss in your home so that you can find any areas where you’re insulation isn’t working correctly or areas around doors and windows that need some sealing to stop heat loss.

It’s also useful to check for water leaks and where they are originating from as it will show you heat and cold spots. When you’ve made your house as warm and cosy as possible then you can take some fun thermal photos of your pets or your children. You can buy a specific hand held camera or an attachment for your phone which is a cheaper price but just as effective.

#8. Infrared thermometer

If you have children you may already be the owner of an infrared thermometer. They’re not only for children but for measuring any persons temperature. They measure the infrared heat emitted by your body and convert it to a temperature. Every living thing gives off a heat signature and we are no different.

You’ve probably seen doctors take a temperature inside the ear and these thermometers do the same, that is the most accurate but you can also get them that will allow you to take a forehead temperature which might be easier if you don’t want to disturb your child when they’re sleeping or if they get upset by something in their ear. You just touch it along the forehead and it will give a reading. It’s a pretty useful gadget to have in any home.

#9. Infrared heat lamp.

An infrared heat lamp can be used in various instances in your home. You can get infrared lamps for specific treatments on various parts of your body. If you have pain in your back and you only feel comfortable lying on your front you can get lamps on a stand that can be pointed to the specific area you need to give warmth and pain relief. These also come with multiple bulbs so that you can cover larger areas of your body. You can also use these lamps on different parts of your body and even your face, although you should wear eye protectors.

These lamps are also used for animals to keep them warm, when you have new puppies and you want some warmth these are great for that. They can also be used for reptiles and hatcheries.

#10. Portable infrared heater

As in all things infrared a portable infrared heater works by your body absorbing the heat from the heater. These heaters don’t work like a normal heater trying to heat the air in the room but it heats up any objects in line with it including yourself and other objects transmit that heat back into the air.

The purpose of these infrared heaters is to make you feel warm instantly because they heat you from the inside out. It doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable by drying out the air in the room so it’s more comfortable. Because they’re not meant to heat up the air in the room they tend to be more efficient and they don’t usually have any emissions so they are very environmentally friendly.

They’re very useful for old people and areas that have children and animals as they are not hot to touch and they usually have a safety feature if they are tipped over and they switch themselves off although they don’t cause a fire because they aren’t hot.

#11. Motion detector light bulbs

Another place that infrared is used that can be really helpful to you is in motion detector light bulbs. These are incredibly useful if you have dark doorway and you don’t want to run an electric light bulb all night long.

You can replace your light bulb with one of these with a motion sensor and it will only come on if anyone moves near it. This means it will light up for you when you get home in the dark but will also give a bit of security by lighting up if anyone else comes up to your house.

These are also useful if you have cupboards with lights so they will always come on when you open the door. Anything that makes life easier and safer has got to be considered.

I hope that this list has been useful to you and might encourage you to use more infrared products in your home.
